In Halifax now. Tonight I went to the Virgin festival on Citadel Hill. It was free. And to cast off all that Toronto styled ideology (of hating everything and not dancing to anything) not only did I go up to the front, but I apparently danced, moshed and crowd surfed to The Offspring. Also Metric were pretty good.
However, I am now quite sore. Tomorrow, I suspect my body will hurt everywhere.
I should find out tomorrow about that place I looked into on Friday. Hopefully all will be well and I will get it. Staying with people is nice and I appreciate it, but I'd like some private time to sleep without pants on.
The bus ride here was really quite tedious. I recommend it to everyone! Also, the quality of people who take buses to eastern Canada is quite fantastic... no, wait. The exact opposite of that.
Getting on the bus in Montreal, I thought I was being smart by sitting next to the french speaking black guy, thinking he'd probably get off the bus the next stop, or at least somewhere in Quebec, but no, for some reason he was headed to Moncton, New Brunswick and by the time we reached there everyone else on the bus had their own set of double seats to themselves, then everyone got off the bus and switched to another one.
Also, there was a little child on the bus who screamed for at least 2 hours straight, right at the beginning. Luckily I had my CD player and a copy of Cakebuilder's "A Fiend In Need Is A Friend Indeed" and although I could still hear the kid screaming overtop of the music, it actually suited the music very well and I realized what a sick fuck that Cakebuilder is. When the kid wasn't screaming the father played "where's stephan" (the kids name) for another hour or so. Oh, in case you're wondering where he went "... There he is." He apparently was right fucking there all the fucking time!
One guy smelled so bad that it almost made me sick every time he went past to go to the washroom. He was also the guy who had to go to the washroom the most. He also spent at least 5 minutes in the washroom each time (so the lingering smell would have a chance to go away... only to appear again when he went back to his seat) But as bad as he smelt, his genetic code is probably more of an abomination.
The bus ride took 18 hours.

More praise for Famine's debut release "Every Mirror Turns Black" just ahead of his upcoming performance at the Winter Hands 2008 concert on Dec. 14th, 2008, Toronto Canada.

"It would betray the hand dealt to me to just come right out and say that Famine's Every Mirror Turns Black is one of the most amazing albums I've yet had the privilege to review but honestly it's an incredible set of tracks and I highly recommend it to anyone whose love of music extends beyond genre affiliation. If your tastes tend to embrace the experimental and, in particular, the aggressive you'll be able to experience the level of enjoyment I encountered upon listening to this impossibly good album." Praise continues to flow in for Worms of the Earth's debut release, The Angels of Prostitution. This time from dark twin cities e-zine
"The Angels Of Prostitution is one of those gems that you may never discover on your own but once its pointed out to you it becomes a treasure to which you will return often. It may take a few spins to really sink in but once it does you'll marvel at the simplicity, revel in the audacity and cherish the seething vulgarity inherent in this bold statement. If you've been on the fence about this whole "Powernoise" thing but are interested in something that has considerably more depth than what you've been hearing in the clubs I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Worms Of The Earth. This is haunting music that sticks with you long after the last beat drops." click to read entire review

 | Bugs Crawling Out of People have announced their late 2008 / early 2009 release schedule.
It all starts off with a free download release/ limited edition CD from Famine entitled "Cocytus" (Dec 14th, 2008). After his critically acclaimed debut "Every Mirror Turns Black", he has gone back to the his own murky archives rediscovering 3 unreleased tracks from 1995, which have been combined with 2 new tracks in this entirely remastered EP. This is Famine as you have never heard him before; lush atmospheres and brooding textures comprise this haunting, dark, ambient work. The frozen, twisted heart of hell has never been so accurately represented and is mandatory listening for fans of desiderii marginis, raison d'ĂȘtre and arcana.
This CD will be released the day of the Winter Hands 2008 concert in Toronto, Canada and will be the first live performance of Famine in 9 months!

Coming in 2009 from Bugs Crawling Out of People:
it-clings returns with the EP "i'm the biggest fucking thing in the whole fucking world". Taking on the mantle "rock n' roll supergod it-clings, king of the jews, saviour of all mankind" has engorged his ego to absurd levels and these tracks reflect that. Aided by a powerful lineup of musicians (including Famine, Dan Barrett (Worms of the Earth), Bart Piette (Dead Man's Hill), Justin Brink (Pneumatic detach), en (dym), Yann Faussurier (Iszoloscope, Memmaker) Autovoice, and more) the new release from this crazed, spoken, wordcore artist will be sure to confuse, infuriate, repulse, mortify and offend everyone, but it will also totally blow people's fucking minds.
Dead Man's Hill's powerful live performance at the 'Hof Ter Loo' in Antwerp Belgium, has been captured and will be released as a limited edition CD entitled "speaking in the tongues of the universal reporter: live in Hof Ter Loo".
Toronto, Canada is a hotbed of musical creativity. Bugs Crawling Out of People will be proud to release the debut album of this upcoming artist: charnel_lurker. "cthulhu will devour your fucking progeny" is an awesome undertaking, and is set to to released spring 2009. |
